Since, IMO, the drivers most likely arent coming out any time soon(everyone is getting ready for Win 7 ), Im afraid you will have to purchase an External CD/DVD reader that It's hard for someone to give a solution to a problem when they never encountered the problem. Is there a remedy? They register in Device Manager and during the POST fine but try to use them....never works. When we click on the drive it says, "please insert disc" as if there is not one in there already. Please Help!!!
myaticangel, You could try the old Remove Filters Trick in the Registry. Try ScottW's Restore Point idea first, and if that doesn't work, see if you can determine the exact make and model with a hardware info utility like Everest or PC Wizard When I put a disc in i.e. I have windows xp with service pack 3.
